Adda Athanasopoulos-Zekkos receives USUCGER DEI award

Professor Adda Athanasopoulos-Zekkos is the recipient of the 2026 USUCGER Diversity, Equity and Inclusion award. She received the award on March 10, 2026, during USUCGER’s Annual Meeting at the ASCE GeoCongress held at Salt Lake City, Utah.

The award is issued by the Board of the United States Universities Council on Geotechnical Education and Research (USUCGER), typically every 2-3 years, to an affiliate of a USUCGER-member institution who is a champion of and has demonstrated strong and sustained commitment towards promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the field of Geotechnical Engineering.

Adda states that “I am incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported this work throughout my years as a student and as a faculty member. I hope the efforts towards making sure everyone feels like they belong in our field never stop so that we may continue to benefit from the creativity, brilliance and dedication of everyone in our community.”
