Robert Kayen delivers keynote address for EBMUD community event

Professor Robert Kayen was invited to provide the keynote address for “From Bedrock to Blackboard: the Science Behind the Source,” EBMUD’s 30th Annual gathering at the Pardee Reservoir on October 3, 2025. The event highlighted the vital connection between the watershed's geologic foundation and EBMUD’s educational mission. Guests included Central Valley water district representatives, state assembly members and senators, and Mokelumne and San Joaquin river water managers and stakeholders. Professor Kayen presented the geologic and earth science elements of the water delivery system. He also noted EBMUD’s collaboration with UC Berkeley Geosystems’ water and wastewater systems design and operation class (CE112) and the Center for Smart Infrastructure.
