Sep 14, 2023
Dr. Youngseok Jo, a post-doctoral researcher working with Prof. Dimitrios Zekkos has been awarded a prestigious fellowship in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields from South Korea, funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF). The Fellowship is awarded to only 50 postdocs annually nationwide.
Youngseok will continue his work at UC Berkeley Geosystems on developing and deploying next generation sensing to estimate methane emissions from landfills. Sensing involves fully-autonomous sensors, aerial and terrestrial robots that will scan the surface of landfills to detect and quantify methane emissions.
Prior to joining UC Berkeley, Youngseok completed his PhD at Dongguk University in Korea, under Prof. Yeon-Soo Jang. Prof. Jang is also an alumnus of UC Berkeley who received his PhD under Prof. Nick Sitar.
