The Academic Legacy of the UC Berkeley Geosystems Program
This database includes Professors worldwide who earned a doctorate in the geotechnical / geoengineering / GeoSystems program at the University of California, Berkeley — from H. Bolton Seed's first cohorts in the 1950s to multiple placements still landing today. It can be advocated that no other program in the US has had such a sustained placement of Faculty in Academia for more than 70 yrs. The database includes current and past faculty, emeritus, retired, and deceased. Each entry gives the institution, the year of the doctorate and the supervising professor, with a source link and a note wherever something is uncertain. The database is likely incomplete and in places inaccurate, so please contact any of the Berkeley Geosystems Faculty for corrections.

Where the lineage landed
One marker per institution, sized by how many people served there. Where someone held posts at more than one university, every one of them is marked — so Wayne Clough appears four times and Poul Lade four times, and the earlier post is labelled as former. Click a marker to see who.
Not on the map
Markers sit at city-level accuracy, which is all a world map at this scale can carry. Universities in the same city — the three in Santiago, two in Singapore, two in Hong Kong — would otherwise land on the same pixel and hide each other, so overlapping markers are nudged apart with a hairline back to the true point; switch to a regional view and they settle onto their real positions. Antarctica and islands below roughly 1 500 km² are omitted from the coastline.
